A Nov. 6 Facebook post (direct link, archive link) purports to show the crowd at President-elect Donald Trump’s victory speech voicing their support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Make America healthy again,” Trump says before the crowd begins to chant. Trump then proceeds to say, “And now he’s a great guy, and he really means it. He wants to do some things, and we’re going to let him go to it.”
The post’s caption reads, “MODI MODI chants during Trump victory speech.”

The video is miscaptioned. Trump’s supporters did not chant Modi’s name during the president-elect’s victory speech. They broke into chants of “Bobby” after Trump mentioned former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In a Nov. 6 post on X, formerly Twitter, Modi congratulated “my friend” Trump on his presidential election victory and said he anticipated strengthening ties between India and the U.S., joining other world leaders in welcoming a second Trump presidency.
However, Trump’s supporters did not break into a “Modi” chant during Trump’s victory speech early Nov. 6 at the Palm Beach Convention Center in Florida. The 20-second clip in the Facebook post omits key context that makes it clear the audience broke into chants of “Bobby,” a nickname for Kennedy.
A video of Trump’s full remarks shared by PBS NewsHour shows him praising Kennedy – who may land a public-health role in Trump’s incoming administration – by his full name before the audience began chanting, “Bobby, Bobby.”
“These are fantastic people and we can add a few names like Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,” Trump said in the speech. “He came in and he’s going to help make America healthy again.”
Fact check: Post revives unproven claim about Dominion employee and 2020 election
The clip in the Facebook post omits Trump’s introduction of Kennedy by his full name.
After the crowd’s “Bobby” chant died down, Trump also referred to Kennedy by the nickname.
“He wants to do some things, and we’re going to let him go to it,” Trump said. “I just said, ‘But Bobby, leave the oil to me.'”
Trump did not mention Modi in the speech.
